The Foundation is recognised as serving exclusively charitable purposes within the meaning of Article 56 lit. g of the Federal Direct Tax Act (DBG) and corresponding cantonal provisions. Tax exemption status is confirmed by the Tax Administration of the Canton of Bern.

The Foundation is not currently registered for Swiss VAT (MWST), as the statutory turnover threshold under Article 10 of the Swiss VAT Act (MWSTG) is not exceeded. This statement will be updated should circumstances change.

Pursuant to § 18 (2) of the German Interstate Media Treaty (Medienstaatsvertrag, MStV) and analogous provisions in other jurisdictions, the person responsible for editorial content on this website is:

The names "Open Science Stiftung", "Open Science Foundation", "Open Science Institute", "OpenTwin Lab", and any associated logos and word marks may be subject to trademark protection and may not be used without prior written consent.

The Foundation has not appointed a Data Protection Officer for this website. The processing carried out through opening.science is limited to server log data, correspondence you send us, newsletter subscriptions, and, subject to your consent, analytics. It involves neither large-scale processing of special categories of personal data nor regular and systematic monitoring of data subjects on a large scale, so the criteria for a mandatory appointment under Article 37 GDPR are not met. Under Swiss law, appointing a data protection advisor (Article 10 FADP) is optional for private controllers.
