Layout

The default direction is Open editorial: a stable left edge and generous space.

Structure

Keep titles left aligned. Use one dominant title, a clear reading order and short paragraphs. Keep descriptions with their titles. Do not put a decorative line beneath a title, and do not place a description on the right side of a page header.

Use a narrow measure for running text and keep captions separate from the pictures they describe.

Spacing

The website works in steps of 10, 20, 30, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120 and 140 units, where one unit is about one pixel. Slides use an outer margin of 60 px. Documents use 20 mm.

Surfaces

Stay flat. Rounded panels and photographs use corners of 6, 12 or 16 px. There are no shadows, gradients or coloured ribbons.

These are working canvases, not a claim about what each network requires. Check the destination's current crop and overlays before posting, and keep content away from the edges. If a headline is too long, shorten it or switch to portrait before making the type smaller.

Photography

Preserve the aspect ratio, crop deliberately, and add a caption and credit before publishing. Use only images the foundation has the rights to.

Before publishing

Check that every placeholder is replaced, the typefaces are applied, the logo is in proportion, no text is clipped, the smallest text is readable at delivery size, and links and image credits are correct.
