Trademark and logo use
The name, visual identity and stylised wordmark identify Open Science Stiftung (Open Science Foundation). The foundation does not claim a registered trademark here.
The logo is not open-licensed
The guideline text on these pages is CC BY 4.0. The logo artwork is not. It is covered by the foundation's Brand Assets Permission, a limited permission, version 1.0 of 8 September 2026. Copyright in the artwork and trademark rights are separate. Mentioning the foundation by name is ordinary use and needs no permission.
What you may do
- Show an unmodified logo to truthfully identify, discuss or link to the foundation and its actual activities, including in reporting.
- Use the logo in communications you have been separately authorised to prepare on the foundation's behalf.
- Resize it proportionally and convert it faithfully to another file format.
- Pass on the unchanged files together with the permission and its provenance notice.
What you may not do
- Recolour, distort, crop, redraw or combine the logo into a new mark.
- Imply sponsorship, endorsement, certification or affiliation that does not exist.
- Use the mark as your own identity, product mark, domain name or account name.
- Use it on merchandise or for fundraising that presents it as your own branding, without written permission.
- Add a registered-mark symbol. No registration is claimed.
Adapting these guidelines
Other organisations may adapt the text of these guidelines under CC BY 4.0, with attribution. That grants no rights in the foundation's marks, and the result must not be presented as the foundation's official branding.
